SAF™ PA12: Increase Volume and Accuracy While Decreasing Costs

SAF™ PA12 Polymer Powder

Recently announced as the second material available for Stratasys H350 SAF 3D Printer.

In addition to Stratasys High Yield PA11, the H350™ 3D printer now offers SAF™ PA12 which is highly versatile and the most requested material in powder bed fusion. Combining SAF technology with SAF™ PA12’s consistency will result in high-volume applications that demonstrate higher levels of dimensional accuracy at a lower cost per part. 


Engineered and Designed to Meet Industrial Grade Requirements

Production-grade parts produced with SAFPA12 are precisely accurate and fit correctly into place. These parts can be rigid and stiff or involve complex geometries. Additionally, they can be nested in high densities which results in lower costs. In order to test the quality of parts produced with SAF™ PA12, an AutoMeasure, an automatic measuring machine, was created and utilized.

The AutoMeasure was built using the very material it would be testing - SAF™ PA12.

It was straightforward to design the AutoMeasure, as the H350 allowed me to create different iterations quickly, the parts always came out on spec, and I was easily able to DfAM because of the consistency and accuracy [of SAF™ PA12] throughout the build volume.

Advantages of using PA12 with our Stratasys H350 3D Printer:

  • Precise production-grade parts built consistently throughout the build volume which unlocks volume production of fit-parts, such as: filter caps and covers. 
  • Industrial machine components which require high accuracy so they can fit together properly.
  • Rigid and stiff parts, such as: housings, handles, and brackets.
  • High powder reuse, reducing waste, and lower cost per part.
  • Opportunity to create high nesting densities, reducing cost per part by increasing throughput with 12% as standard (as compared to industry standard of 8%.)
